Nesterz Trip to Jivandhara Old Age Home

It all started with a Google search (as always), we were looking for some a lit and fun place for a periodic get-together that Nesterz plans every now and then. But the conversation took an interesting turn when a team member suggested to visit a place where we can contribute towards the society and to help those who need our help.

The idea was well liked by all and then the Google search took a different turn, instead of searching for a fancy restaurant, the team started searching for an organisation that has dedicated itself to the betterment of the society. And we stumbled upon this organisation called Jivandhara Old Age Home.  It is run by an organisation called Manavseva Samaj Kalyan Trust.

When we reached this place, it felt content and cheerful to all. The premise is very huge and it is a home to more than 100 adult children. The team had a great time there; it was a good mix of some lifelong learning, fun activities and few priceless smiles.

The management and the seniors residing there are very welcoming and when we were given a tour of the premise by the Payal ma’am, we felt it is a whole new world in there away from the stress and the societal pressures. It was a place where people shared lives and not just quotes and where people connected but not on social media. It was our fair share of Digital Detox.

The team had the privilege to serve the senior citizens with their lunch and we also had a cake cutting ceremony just to celebrate the spirit of the people living there. Unlike other places, the place is truly a place where people live and work to serve not just the elders, but the society. Apart from the Old age home, the place also has a “Mahila Utkarsh Centrea women employment programme, Bhagvan Mahavir Medical Centre, Bhagvan Mahavir Eye Care Hospital, Senior Citizen Tiffin Service, Physiotherapy Centre and Exercise School.

Also, it is one place where there is no discrimination and no age limit for entry as well as there is no bar of caste. All those who are needy can come and stay there. The Old Age home provides accommodation to the old people, who are widow or widower spending a lonely life, unmarried, childless, having only daughters, mentally retarded, blind, bedridden and they also have a separate facility for paralysed senior citizens.

All and all, it was a divine experience and the team had never had such amounts of laughs and the feeling of content in any other of our Fun activities. Lastly, we are grateful to the Jivandhara Old Age Home for hosting us with such oomph and serenity. We will cherish these memories for lifetime and we insist all those reading this post to visit this place at least once. It is worth it.
